SINGING KARAOKE AT MYRTLE BEACH
There are many songs that mention cities.  Many of you have heard of "El Paso" (Marty Robbins, 1959), "Kansas City" (Wilbert Harrison, 1959), and "I left My Heart In San Francisco" (Tony Bennett, 1962).
Other cities have their own songs: Abilene, Chattanooga, Galveston, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Key Largo, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Pasadena, Memphis, Nashville, New York, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Jose, Tallahassee, Tucson, and many others.

Songs about Myrtle Beach?
Jimmie R. Vestal, a former Winston-Salem, NC songwriter, now in Florida, searched the internet to find them and had no luck.  He continued to investigate.

"I found that The Fantastic Shakers, a North Carolina band, recorded a song titled, "Myrtle Beach Days". This group has appeared at Fat Harold's at North Myrtle Beach", says Jimmie.

For the Myrtle Beach audience, Jimmie has written and recorded the songs, Singing Karaoke At Myrtle Beach, Clubbin' In Myrtle Beach, and Myrtle Beach Diva.
"Most of the singers performing at karaoke venues are singing previous hit songs. Only rarely would they be introducing their own original songs.  My idea is to introduce some Myrtle Beach original songs and to create karaoke background tracks to go along with them".
The first song, Singing Karaoke At Myrtle Beach, is about having a good time with the karaoke crowd.
The song, Clubbin' In Myrtle Beach, refers to dancing at clubs where DJs are "scratchin' vinyl" (two of Jimmie's songs are on a 7" 45 RPM vinyl record).
The third song, Myrtle Beach Diva, is about a bald headed female guitar player in a band. The song mentions the roller coaster, Studebaker's, the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, and a store, Day Dreams.
Jimmie is a Free Agent (indie) songwriter and musician, the author of over 170 copyrighted songs
and instrumentals. He sings vocals, plays lead, rhythm, and bass guitar, keyboard, harmonica, and percussion.

He has performed professionally in musical groups in North Carolina and Florida. He also recorded voice tracks for radio station promos. His songs and music were featured on many of the 36 episodes of the Clearwater, Florida Vision Cable/Time-Warner Community Access TV series, "Computer Art & Animation" (1992-1997), of which he was the producer and videotape editor.

Jimmie talks about singing karaoke: "Know the version of the song you will be singing.  I was singing "Summertime Blues" at one karaoke venue and I messed it up big time.  At home I had practiced with the Eddie Cochran original version of the song.  When I performed it, the Karaoke Jockey was using a background track with different timing in it".
Jimmie may have written the only two songs in the world that have their own actual manufactured product. The product is Bald Head Diva Gourmet Steak Sauce.
So far Jimmie has no plans to distribute the sauce in Myrtle Beach stores and restaurants, though the song does have a line that goes "Visit Myrtle Beach and
the restaurants there too - - - They will have some diva sauce just for you".

Jimmie's other song that refers to the sauce is Steak Sauce And a Song.

His song, Bald Head Diva, with a bottle of his steak sauce, has already been submitted for
display at the Ripley's Believe It  Or Not Museum in Myrtle Beach through their corporation headquarters in Orlando, Florida.

Jimmie states, "I haven't checked to see if they have the song and sauce in their museum."

His copyrighted Diva caricature appears on CD labels, guitar picks, post cards, wooden nickels, buttons, matchbooks, and on rubber stamps.
